SHILLONG, Nov 26: Destroyed
recently in a major fire incident, Church of God received financial
assistance from South Shillong Legislator, Sanbor Shullai. An amount of
Rs 1, 01,000, released under the discretionary grant 2019-2020 was
handed over to Pastor, Rev. A. Moore at the church premises in
Qualapaty.
“This is a humble contribution from our part, sort of help to enable the congregation to build a new Church which will look far better than the old Church through the grace of God Almighty,” Shullai said.
Established in 1902, Church of God is known throughout Meghalaya, said Sanbor and assured to seek financial assistance under the spiritual circuit tourism of the central government scheme to rebuild the church.
The 117 year old church was reduced to ashes when the fire incident broke out on November 17, 2019.
