Shillong, Mar 19:
The Meghalaya Govt has decided to impose restriction on movement of public transport and to close all shops, market and establishments from midnight of March 20, 2020 to midnight of March 21, 2020 throughout the State.
This has been done with a view to enforce the advisories and restrictions for containment of COVID19 (Corona Virus) and to carry out intensive awareness programmes on preventive measures to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
Meanwhile, in view of the prevailing situation concerning COVID-19, the East Khasi Hills Deputy Commisioner today issued an order for promulgation of Section 144 CRPC throughout the district.
The order prohibits operations of all markets and commercial establishment in the district, operation of all forms of public transport and assembly or gathering of 5 (five) or more persons in public areas and premises beyond the individual households.
This order will not be applicable to the Security Forces and Medical Teams on duty.
“In view of the urgency of the matter, this order is being passed exparte and it shall comc into force with effect from Midnight of 20. March, 2020 and shall remain in force till Midnight of 2, March. 202O,” the Deputy Commissioner stated in the order.
