8 More Cases of COVID-19 Detected in Assam, Total 13 Infected

APRIL 1, 2020:

Assam Health and Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has recently confirmed that the number of cases of the coronavirus or COVID-19 has risen to 13 in Assam. All these new cases are from the testing lab in the Jorhat Medical College.

This announcement has been made hours after a previous announcement in which he had stated that 4 more cases of the virus had been detected in the State. Strikingly, the first cases of the COVID-19 was detected yesterday when a 52-year-elderly person from Karimganj was reported for as "positive" after an sample testing at the Silchar Medical College. The Minister has also claimed that they had attended the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin in New Delhi's South-West.

Tweeting out about this latest development via of Twitter, the Finance and Health "Alert ~ 8 more COVID 19 positive cases in Assam, taking the total to 13. All eight new cases are of individuals who also participated in Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz."

During a presser that he had given earlier in the evening, Himanta Biswa Sarma has cautioned the residents of the State to remain alert and said that soon positive COVID-19 cases will increase from five to a double-digit number. His latest revelation has confirmed the earlier apprehension.

Addressing a press conference here in Guwahati, Sarma had stated, "This number will increase by evening as we are testing more samples. It is almost sure that Assam's positive cases will rise after the test results are declared."

The Minister urged all of the ones who have come into direct or indirect contact with the five positive peoples, to answer to the Government so the necessary screenings and testing is carried out.

It is appropriate that as many as of 877,744 individuals have been infected by the new coronavirus. 188,647 of the cases have been reported for from the United States, with 4,059 deaths so far.
