A man from Manipur, who was recently attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi, tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state to two.

The news was refreshed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh on his Twitter handle at 12.36 am on Thursday, April 2.

"Exceptionally tragic and alert,In Manipur too one more #COVIDー19 positive case who joined #TablighiJamaat gathering at #NizamuddinMarkaz . Now in Manipur #COVIDー19 positive are two . Some are under quarantine centres for observation.

However, the health of the Tablighi Jamaat returnee was yet to be known till the time of filling this report.

Of the 10 people from Manipur who attended the Tablighi Jamaat Nizamuddin in the national capital between March 13 and 15, eight of them tested negative and one tested positive for coronavirus. The result of the remaining people is awaited.

With the state government's switch action, all the attendees of the Nizamuddin religious gathering from Manipur were traced and identified, and have been put them under strict quarantine.

Earlier, soon after the reports of the country's count for COVID-19 surged with 35 deaths, all linked to Delhi's Nizamuddin religious gethering, CM Singh requested the individuals in the state to get immediately tested for coronavirus if they attended the religious gathering in the national capital during mid-March this year.

On March 24, Manipur reports its first cases of coronavirus known as COVID-19 after a 23-year-old young lady tested positive, making it the first cases of the deadly virus in Northeast India.

According to reports, the young lady, who is a resident of Imphal West, had returned  from London on March 19 to New Delhi by an Air India flight and arrived at Manipur on March 21.

"A 23-year-old Manipuri individual coming back from UK (England) tested positive today morning [March 24]," said state wellbeing chief K Rajo Singh.
