A total of 1637 positive coronavirus cases have been confirmed across India with 35 deaths and 133 cured, the health ministry data showed.

More than a hundred people tested positive for coronavirus and a nationwide manhunt is on for suspected cases after a large religious gathering at Delhi’s Nizamuddin that has emerged as a virus hotspot with links to seven COVID-19 deaths.

NORTHEAST INDIA

In Northeast India, several people from Meghalaya, Manipur and Assam were reported to have attended the religious congreggation.

So far, three cases of positive coronavirus have been reported in Assam, Manipur and Mizoram till March 31.

Northeasterners who attended Jimmat

In Meghalaya, the Shillong centre of Tablighi Jamaat on Tuesday had confirmed that at least seven persons from Meghalaya had gone to Hazarat Nizamuddin in New Delhi and while 5 attended the religious congregation– Tabligji Jamaat earlier this month, two travelled to Lucknow nd Indore via Nizamuddin. The 5 persons were tested negative for the covid-19 and are being quarantined in New Delhi.

While in Assam, a list of 456 persons were present in and around the hotspot near Nizamuddin Dargah in New Delhi to attend the religious congregation– Tablighi Jamaat.

“We have alerted the district administrations to find out if these people have returned to Assam and seek instructions issued to quarantine them if they are in the state,” Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had tweeted on Tuesday.

COVID CASES IN NORTHEAST INDIA

MANIPUR

In Manipur, no new cases of covid-19 have been reported whereas a 23-year-old girl who was tested positive for coronavirus is still under quarantine in a medical college in Imphal since March 24.

According to media reports, the girl’s condition is stable but the tests for coronavirus is still positive.

MIZORAM

Presently in Mizoram, no new cases of covid-19 has been reported. The wife and two children of the Covid-19 patient were discharged from state-run hospital after they were tested negative for the diseases.

The family members were admitted to the isolation ward of the Zoram Medical College (ZMC) after the pastor, who returned from the Netherlands, tested positive for COVID-19 on March 25.

ASSAM

While in Assam, a 52-year-old person was tested positive for coronavirus till Tuesday.

ARUNACHAL PRADESH

Two girls from Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, who sat next to the lone COVID-19 patient from Mizoram on a New Delhi-Guwahati flight, have tested negative for the disease, a senior health official said.

Their samples were sent to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for tests, Health Secretary P Parthiban said.

SIKKIM

The State Health and Family Welfare Dept, Govt. Of Sikkim has informed that at least 104 people have been quarantined while 829 of them are under home quarantine and 25 people have completed the home Quarantine 28 Days.

Total Sample Taken For Test is 23 of which 10 are Negative Result and the rest are still waiting for the Result (Includes Samples 3 from CRH and 4 from Gayzing Hospital and 06 from STNM). Report of 13 expected early by 01 April.

TRIPURA

As informed by the Tripura Health Secretary Debasish Basu, the state administration has been keeping an eye on the movement and health condition of 5,316 people who have recently entered the state from elsewhere, as part of its measures to check the spread of COVID-19. Of them, 49 have been placed under institutional quarantine and the rest under home quarantine.
