Assam government has decided to allow inter-district movement for three days and only selected individuals with e-pass will be permitted to commute starting from April 25-27 this month.
Health Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday said that the state government has decided to allow inter district movement for a period of three days subject to the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines.
While addressing a press conference held in Guwahati, Sarma said that from April 25 to April 27 individuals will be permitted to commuted back to their respective places and the state government has taken the decision by following the guidelines of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Sarma said, "The individuals who have their own vehicles stuck in different districts because of the novel coronavirus lockdown, they can apply for an e-pass with the respective district Deputy Commissioners. Patients will be permitted to visit government hospitals for treatment but they will also need to apply for e-passes.
From April 25, the inter-district movement will be felicitated for patients and the government will take strict action against those vehicles plying on roads with the e-passes issued for patients but without a patient ready, he said.
He further said that the Assam government will run few buses of Assam State Transport Corporation (ASTC) for the for the individuals with no vehicles or means of transport. A helpline number "104" has also been accommodated the individuals who need to travel on designated routes.
